The 2019 high school water polo season is around the corner and the TISCA Water Polo West Region Committee is excited to begin another huge season for the region.
As we have done for the past several years we are asking for the help of anyone affiliated with aquatics in our region. Please take less than five minutes to complete the survey linked below to help us understand our current and future membership demands as the sport heads toward UIL sanction. TISCA West Region coaches met at the annual Coaches Clinic in Austin in September with the election of a regional chairperson on the agenda. No nominations for the position were submitted. James Smith will remain the regional representative until the next election. For the 2019 season Jonathan Landero of PSJA and Allie Hill of LBJ High School will join him as advisors.
Currently the West Region competition calendar is almost entirely tentative. Coaches and team administrators, please contact the committee as soon as possible about hosting tournaments or other matches. We have already received interest from several teams who want to get matches on their schedule.
We’ve received news of several new programs joining us this spring: Harlingen, Austin HS, McCallum, and Vandegrift will or are expected to field varsity teams in 2019 contributing to the steady growth of the region. It is extremely easy for new teams to compete with us. Be sure to contact the committee if you are interested in forming a new program, varsity or consolidated.
For teams just getting off the ground AquaTex Waterpolo Club has extra practice balls and caps for free. Contact them to share your needs and arrange for distribution.
